Within the Engine Development department of PACCAD, the Integration & Validation team is responsible for defining new engines and aftertreatment systems including emissions, OBD and diagnostics

As an OBD Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in creating and optimizing On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) solutions to meet stringent emission regulations while ensuring system reliability and cost-effectiveness.
• Lead the development of OBD/OBM control concepts, defining system-level requirements for software functionality.
• Analyze and interpret regulatory requirements, perform impact assessments, and design diagnostic concepts.
• Create clear and actionable requirements for OBD software development and support calibration engineers during implementation.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including OBD Calibration, Validation, and Compliance, to ensure alignment and seamless execution.
• Act as a key integrator between suppliers and internal stakeholders to develop robust OBD/OBM monitoring solutions.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities, provide feedback, and ensure compliance with project standards.
• Support discussions with regulatory bodies (e.g., CARB) through analysis, strategy development, and simulations.
• Perform OBD impact analysis for hardware changes or new control strategies.
Wat breng je mee?
·MSc in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering (or a BSc with significant relevant experience).
·In-depth knowledge of EU and NA emission and OBD regulations.
·Proven experience in the development cycle of Exhaust Emission or OBD systems, including control development.
· Understanding of OBD performance capabilities (e.g., robustness, IUMPR).
·Proficiency in emission/OBD data analytics, including vehicle fleet and engine data.
·Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies (e.g., DMAIC, DFSS, FMEA, Monte Carlo).
·Experience with tools like MATLAB, Simulink, and Doors Next Generation is an advantage.
·Excellent English communication skills
